 Oryukdo Skywalk Highlights

A Geographical Marvel

The Oryukdo Skywalk is located at what was traditionally known as Seungdumal, a name derived from the saddle-like shape of the landmass it is built on. For locals and female divers in the area, it was also affectionately called “Jallokgae.” This extraordinary attraction started taking shape on September 12, 2012, and it quickly became a symbol of Busan’s stunning coastal beauty. The location holds significance as it is considered the division point between the East Sea and the South Sea.

A Walk Over the Sky

On October 18, 2013, the Oryukdo Skywalk opened its doors to the public, presenting an experience like no other. The theme is aptly named “walking over the sky,” a testament to the surreal experience that awaits visitors.

The Engineering Marvel

The skywalk is built on a 35-meter-high coastal cliff, offering visitors a bird’s eye view of the sea stretching out below. At its heart is a 15-meter glass bridge, made up of 24 glass plates that are shaped like a horse’s hoof. The glass flooring is a remarkable engineering feat, comprising four layers of 12-millimeter glass panels, coated with a bulletproof film for a total thickness of 55.49 millimeters. This design ensures safety while allowing visitors to experience the thrill of looking down through the transparent floor. It’s a perfect spot for taking stunning photos, making memories that will last a lifetime.
